Clean the spa filter

Every four weeks Spa water is hot, heavily used, and there is very little of it — the filter loads up far faster than a pool's. Caldera states every four weeks, and Bullfrog says every three to six for cylindrical cartridges. Monthly is a safe reading of both. ## What to do 1. Turn the spa off at the breaker. 2. Remove the cartridge. 3. Rinse with a garden hose, working between the pleats at an angle. 4. For a proper clean, soak in a filter degreaser per its directions, then rinse thoroughly. 5. Refit and restore power. ## Two things not to do No pressure washer. It drives debris into the media and tears the pleats. No dishwasher. Both Caldera and Bullfrog say so directly — heat and detergent destroy the filter.

What it takes

A / R / X Series (2013-2016)

Replace the Bullfrog filter cartridge with Microban (10-2870). every year–2 years.

Bullfrog states cylindrical cartridges typically last 1-2 years.
