Close the pool for winter

Cartridges come out 1. Give the cartridges a full clean — an oil soak and, if needed, an acid soak. Storing them dirty sets everything into the fabric for months. 2. Dry them completely and store them indoors, out of the sun. 3. Drain the filter tank fully and leave the drain plug out. Freezing a tank with water in it cracks it, and a cartridge stored wet in the dark grows things you do not want back in your pool. ## The rest of the system Drain the pump and heater, blow out the lines, plug the returns. Store the pressure gauge indoors if it comes off easily.
