Inspect the clamp ring springs
Why this matters
The clamp ring is the only thing holding the top of a pressurised filter tank on. Pentair asks for this check at least once a month, and it is one of the few genuinely safety-related items in a pool routine.
What to do
- Stop the pump and release all pressure at the air relief valve before touching anything.
- Look at the spring coils on the clamp ring bolt.
- They should be under visible tension and evenly spaced — not collapsed, not fully compressed, not corroded through.
If a spring looks tired, replace it before the next time you open the tank.
